We are a small services oriented business that has remote employees. We’ve equipped those employees including some of our in house employees with the Pentax DSmobile 600 Scanner. Our remote employees scan completed work orders from their laptops using the Pentax Scanner while in their trucks. They like the ease of use, portability and dependability of the scanner. Before the remote employees would have to go to somewhere to fax in their paperwork at the end of the day. Additionally, the in house employees are now able to scan and email the remote employees maps, work orders, etc immediately to help them out. We’re ready to order our 11th one. Not one problem with the other 10 in use!

Truckdriver on the road

I bought this scanner about Aug 2009 to use in truck to email my delivery invoices for payment.

I have a labtop it connects to, for scanning and email. I am not really a tech guy. But I have found this

simple to install on laptop and oh so simple to use. And at $3.00 a page to fax in my invoices from truck stops.

I have saved its cost,just on fax charges I didn’t have to pay. I email my invoices from most delivery locations,

so I get paid for the load quicker. the scans go to your document file and you just sent as attachment to email.

The unit is very small and simple to store, comes with a cover that slides over it.

This Pentax DS mobile 600 has worked very very well for me. If you need simple of use and a compact unit this is it.

Brilliant scanner.

I bought this scanner for the purpose of scanning invoices and documents to searchable pdf documents. It is quite quick but each document has to be hand fed into it. The scanner is quite simple to feed and it does ok with smaller pieces of paper (small receipts…) For low scanning volume, this is a fantastic option!

I found it to work perfect but I needed something that was much quicker. The portability is perfect for small jobs. I would highly recommend it for people on the go with laptops.

I got this scanner cause i travel about 90% of my work week all over the Mid-west. It is fantastic for scanning paperwork and other items that i need to email to my Corp office in Iowa and managers across the country… Stores simple and works fantastic, will worth the price..

Nearly perfect mobile scanner

I drive around 3000 miles per month as an account manager. My office is my vehicle. The ability to scan documents immediately, rather until I get to a Staples or home is invaluable to me. The install of the scanner was acceptable – especially since they don’t officially support Win 7. I reckon the issue was the drivers that shipped on the CD were V 1.2 versus 2.2 on the net. Scanning software is very basic but does scan to .pdf – one huge advantage over standard Win Fax & Scan. For a documents scanner it is fantastic – don’t reckon this would be ideal for photos (why anyone would even consider this scanner for that I have no thought). Speed wise it is acceptable. For a scanner this small it is fantastic. No complaints whatsoever. Drivers and utilities are also tiny which I appreciate – ever install HP those massive products?

Highly recommended!

Invaluable tool

This is an invaluable tool, especially if you own a notebook or netbook computer. I am a teacher, and I have used this scanner to quickly scan student essays and papers to instantly project on my classroom Smart Board so that we can review and discuss papers. The software is so simple to use, but allows you to do most things: scan in black/white, gray scale, or color right into PDF (t is a small program that launches quickly and does not use lots of resources). I also use it to scan bills and other docs so that I can shred them and throw away. It has been valuable for me in eliminating paper clutter. As a teacher, I am in the process of digitizing 95% of my paperwork. I have a larger flatbed scanner/copier/printer unit, but I rarely use it now to scan, because the DSmobile 600 is so much quicker and convenient. I recommend this product without reservations.

Pentax DSMobile 600 rocks!

I needed a way to digitize tons of pictures and bought this portable scanner after several other options did not meet my needs or expectations. I have done a couple of dozen Christmas picture cards and pictures sent in cards and except for a few mis-feeds, have been thrilled using it in conjunction with Photoshop Elements on my Mac. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars across is the few mis feeds and the awkwardness of user defined sizes. Since wallet size, 5×7 and 8×10 are not options, I had to do that and you could not drag an existing box, but had to draw a new one. A ruler on the scan edge would be helpful for those situations.

Also, even though it is listed as Pentax and drivers are from there, it is now marked Brother, FWIW.

Looking forward to lots of conversion with this tool!
