Not useful for textbooks

I bought this last summer 2008 – thinking it would be a fantastic help in college. But it does not scan from textbooks.

Right it will scan from paper (after you learn how) but I needed & wanted to scan items from my textbooks. Would not work.

So I have had to type or copy & print – when I really just wanted the information on my computer. Thought it would save me time. HA HA HA

the service department is very terrible

When I called the service department, after the greeting message, I had to wait in the line for a long time before I could talk to someone who turned out to be not helpful at all. My problem is still not solved. I don’t know what to do.

A chore to use, and poor results

This product seemed such a excellent thought, and I bought it based on successful use by several reviewers. After a month of trying I have not been able to get acceptable scans. Scans are usually a jumble of symbols; sometimes I get an intelligible sentence with lots of “typos”; and occasionally I get a clean phrase or even a whole line. What comes out seems like sheer luck. And the on-line help does not offer coaching. I will continue working on it for a while; before throwing it in a bottom drawer with its useless predessor, the QuickLink pen scanner.

Item is not as described – to excellent to be right

I bought this item thinking and hoping it would make my life simpler when having to copy text out of the book for reference instead of typing. I’m truely disapointed. I either had a defective one or I did not have the patience to learn. I played and configured it over 30 minutes and I kept on getting errors. I would recommend relying on the traditional methods that never fails. It more of a pain and it takes longer to right than to type.
