Useful Bar code Scanner, works as a usb keyboard, linux compatiable.

This product takes some getting used to, but, it operates with Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX without any problems. The device is very portable, so your not stuck typing in 200 hard-drive serial numbers by hand next time your on-site collecting evidence. The device appears as a keyboard, so when you scan something it act as if you typed the data in using the keyboard. The device is configured by scanning different bar codes. I configured the product to be as universal as possible, so I did not need to worry as much about the fantastic variety of bar codes(there are a lot of bar code types). Note, this device does not scan the new 3-D codes used by some shippers. I finished up having to buy bar code printing software (this product does not come with software to generate bar codes).
